The CESAM will participate in the 36th Annual Meeting of SETAC Europe, to be held in Maastricht (The Netherlands), from 17 to 21 May 2026, through Roberto Martins, researcher at CESAM/DBio, who is part of the coordination team of the themed session “Environmental risks of (new) chemicals used in maritime transport”, together with Marlea Wagelmans (WMCN, The Netherlands) and Edwin Foekema (WUR, The Netherlands).
This session welcomes abstract submissions addressing:
- Environmental fate and behaviour, marine ecotoxicity, hazard and environmental risk of alternative fuels, coatings, leachates and their components (including active ingredients);
- Innovative strategies to minimise the environmental footprint of maritime transport (alternative fuels, bio-inspired, bio-sourced, biodegradable or nano-based coating technologies, safe and sustainable by design approaches, and revalorisation of residues within a circular economy framework);
- Case studies and lessons learned from recent incidents, such as chemical spills.
Deadline for abstract submission: 26 November 2025 (5:00 PM CET)
