29/09/2023

Researchers from CESAM will participate in the European Researchers’ Night (NEI) on the night of September 29th, from 21:00 to 24:00, at the Fábrica – Centro de Ciência Viva de Aveiro. The theme for this biennium’s NEI in 2022/23 is “Science for All – Inclusion and Sustainability.”

The participating researchers from CESAM and their projects include:

  • Paulo Baganha Baptista and Cristina Bernardes (CESAM/DGEO) presenting the SPACE FOR SHORE project.
  • Joana Pereira, Inês Macário, Guilherme Jeremias, and Carlos Silva (CESAM/DBIO) showcasing the EPIBOOST project, focusing on boosting excellence in environmental epigenetics.
  • Vânia Calisto and Diana Lima (CESAM/DQ) discussing new challenges in wastewater treatment.
  • Alisa Rudnitskaya, Catarina Moreirinha, Maria Teresa S.R. Gomes, Mariana Raposo, and Marta Verissimo (CESAM/DQ) introducing the COASTAL project, which focuses on microfluidic sensors for the rapid detection of marine toxins in sustainable aquaculture.

In addition to presenting their projects and showcasing their research activities, the researchers will engage with the public to promote sustainability and inclusion.

One of the main objectives of NEI is to raise awareness among young people about the importance of research and innovation in Europe for a more sustainable and inclusive future. It also aims to bring researchers and science closer to civil society.
