The European Researchers’ Night 2025 (NEI 2025) will take place at the Fábrica Centro Ciência Viva de Aveiro on 26 September, from 20:00 to 24:00. Part of a European initiative that brings science and citizens closer together, the University of Aveiro edition presents Science@UA – Science and Technology Fair, an informal and dynamic space where the public can meet researchers, explore projects and discover recent results.
CESAM – Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies will be strongly represented, showcasing the diversity and relevance of its research. Highlights include:
- “Who’s Who in the Deep Sea?”, coordinated by Ana Hilário and Sofia Ramalho, introducing the biodiversity and ecosystems of the deep ocean;
- ATMODOR, led by Regina Duarte, addressing air pollution and odour management in European cities;
- Air Laboratory, coordinated by Alexandra Monteiro and Ana Isabel Miranda, presenting tools to understand air quality;
- CURIOSOIL, promoted by Sónia Rodrigues, focusing on soil literacy and raising awareness of its ecological and social importance.
These initiatives are part of dozens of other projects from different scientific areas at the University of Aveiro, offering the public the chance to experiment, question and take part. NEI 2025 will therefore be a night to celebrate science and foster open dialogue between researchers and society.
