Photography Exhibition “Biodiversity – Looks That Speak”

The itinerant photography exhibition “BIODIVERSITY – Looks That Speak”, promoted by the Department of Biology of the University of Aveiro and curated by Aldiro Pereira, will be on display at the facilities of the Águeda School of Technology and Management from 25 May to 13 July 2026, Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

This photography exhibition, the first organised by DBio with the purpose of being presented in an itinerant format, brings together works by a wide range of authors — Aldiro Pereira, António Vieira, Beatriz Vieite, António Calado & Sandra Craveiro, Cláudio Brandão, Daniel Mêdas, Júlio Neto, Lísia Lopes and Pedro Leite — who, entirely voluntarily, made their images available to be part of this show. This voluntary collaboration made it possible to create a particularly versatile exhibition, marked by a diversity of perspectives, themes and approaches, which contributes to its strong appeal among different audiences.

The photographs on display stand out not only for their aesthetic quality and thematic breadth, but also for their ability to capture, with precision, the detail of biodiversity and the complexity of the ecosystems represented. Each image functions as a visual record that reinforces the importance of preservation, scientific outreach and the appreciation of natural heritage, underlining the urgent need to promote greater environmental awareness. As a whole, this exhibition stands as a relevant contribution to bringing the community closer to the biological richness that surrounds us and to the fundamental role that science plays in its protection.

The Águeda School of Technology and Management (ESTGA-UA), an organic unit of the University of Aveiro located in Águeda, is a dynamic space for teaching, research and interaction with society. It stands out for its strong connection to the business sector and the surrounding community, offering training in technological and management areas, combined with a practical and innovative approach.
