From 23 to 25 November 2026, Microbiology 2026 – International Congress of Microbiology in the Portuguese Language will take place online, co-organised by the Portuguese Society of Microbiology (SPM) and the Brazilian Society for Microbiology (SBM).

Aimed particularly at young microbiologists, including higher education students and researchers who obtained their PhD less than five years ago, the congress will provide an opportunity to present and discuss scientific work in Portuguese, develop science communication skills and establish contacts with other researchers.

The programme will take place over three afternoons, each dedicated to a different area of Microbiology: Health Microbiology, Environmental Microbiology and Food Microbiology.

CESAM will be represented on the congress’s organising and scientific committees through the participation of researchers from the Centre, contributing to both the organisation and the scientific component of the event.

All participants will have the opportunity to give an oral presentation of their work, which will subsequently be made freely available through the Portuguese Society of Microbiology’s YouTube channel.
