Ocean Break Seminar – CITAQUA-ECOMARE: A new infrastructure at UA to foster the Blue Bioeconomy

On 9 January, from 13:00 to 14:00, in Room 9.1.1 (DEMaC), Ricardo Calado, researcher at CESAM/DBio, will present the seminar entitled “The Center for Innovation and Technology in Aquaculture (CITAQUA-ECOMARE) – A new infrastructure at UA to foster the Blue Bioeconomy”.

The Hub Azul Network is part of the Recovery and Resilience Programme, with CITAQUA-ECOMARE serving as the Aveiro Hub (H4). This new infrastructure at the University of Aveiro was designed to strengthen scientific, technological, and innovation capacity in the fields of aquaculture and the Blue Bioeconomy.

The seminar will present the main operational objectives of CITAQUA-ECOMARE, including the implementation of the National Laboratory for the Traceability of Fishery and Aquaculture Products, the Super-Intensive Algae and Bivalves Production Laboratory 5.0, as well as activities focused on capacity building and knowledge transfer.

An overview of the available facilities, scientific equipment, and operational guidelines will also be provided, promoting a transdisciplinary approach aimed at addressing regional, national, and international challenges within the context of the Blue Bioeconomy.
