Ocean Break Seminar – Nudibranchs on a changing ocean: Berghia stephanieae as a case study

17/04/2026
13:00 - 14:00

On April 17th, from 13:00 to 14:00, in Room 9.1.1 (DEMaC), the seminar “Nudibranchs on a changing ocean: Berghia stephanieae as a case study” will take place, presented by Ruben Silva (CESAM & DBIO).

Direct impacts of climate change, such as coral bleaching, are thoroughly studied. However, indirect impacts are often overlooked. Specialized predators like the sea slug Berghia stephanieae, relying on photosynthetic prey, are some of the forgotten victims of these changes. By studying this nudibranch, we start to unveil the full picture of the indirect impacts of climate change, revealing how stress ripples across reefs’ trophic chains.
