One Health Day 2025 – CESAM

03/11/2025

On November 3, 2025, CESAM will mark One Health Day, an initiative that highlights the importance of an integrated approach to human, animal, and environmental health, in line with CESAM’s mission to promote excellence in science for sustainable development.

Throughout the day, several videos will be shared on social media showcasing CESAM’s research within the One Health – “One Single Health” framework. These scientific contributions address topics such as antibiotic resistance and the environmental impact of human activities, the relationship between microbiology, plants, and air quality in cities, as well as the development of sustainable strategies to promote healthier urban ecosystems.

The celebrations will also include the lecture “Phage therapy: when viruses become allies of health”, delivered by Adelaide Almeida, CESAM researcher and professor at the Department of Biology.

The session will take place at 6:30 p.m. at Fnac Aveiro and will present phage therapy as an innovative approach to combating infections caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria, exploring the role of bacteriophages as natural allies in human health.
