From 21 to 26 June 2026, the Summer School “Ecosystems at risk: Modelling reactive nitrogen” will take place at the University of Algarve, in Faro, within the scope of the European project FONDA — FOstering Nitrogen Deposition Assessment over Portugal.

The initiative involves CESAM, through Alexandra Monteiro, researcher at CESAM/DAO, who is one of the Chairs of the Third School of the FONDA EU project. The training will focus on the role of reactive nitrogen in the atmosphere and ecosystems, covering emissions, transport, deposition, environmental impacts and atmospheric modelling.

With a strong practical component, the Summer School aims to train participants in the analysis and modelling of nitrogen deposition, while promoting international scientific cooperation and the development of tools to support environmental policy decision-making.
