Webinar “From messy biodiversity data to FAIR and shareable knowledge”

27/04/2026
09:30 - 11:00

Webinar presenting the AURORA Shiny App, a tool developed to streamline the sharing of biodiversity data. The AURORA Shiny App was created במסגרת the AURORA project – bringing deep-sea biodiversity data to light. This initiative is funded through the DTO-BioFlow project, with support from the European Union, and led by the Digital Marine Biodiversity Lab of the University of Aveiro in collaboration with REV Ocean and the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA).

A large portion of biodiversity data remains unpublished or stored in non-standardized formats, limiting its usability. The AURORA Shiny App was developed to simplify the transformation of raw biodiversity data into Darwin Core Archives (DwC-A), ensuring compliance with FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) and preparing data for publication on global platforms such as GBIF and OBIS.

The session will be held online, with two available dates:

Option 1: Monday, April 27, 2026 | 09:30 – 11:00 (WEST)
Option 2: Wednesday, May 20, 2026 | 17:00 – 18:30 (WEST)
