CESAM will host a workshop on 10 December, from 14:00 to 17:00, in the CESAM Meeting Room (5th Floor, Building III), focusing on compliance with open access obligations in FCT-funded projects.
This event is exclusively aimed at CESAM members, with priority given to Principal Investigators (PIs) and team members of the Exploratory Projects funded in the 2024 call (the first call in which the application of this policy is mandatory). PIs of other projects who are interested may also register, provided that the event’s capacity has not been reached.
We highlight that open access to publications is already a requirement of the European Commission, so this workshop is a good opportunity for project teams to stay informed and clarify any questions they may have. The session is expected to be highly interactive and informal.
This year, FCT published the Policy on Open Access to Scientific Publications resulting from research funded by FCT, which introduces concrete and mandatory measures. In general terms, the policy requires that publications resulting from funding calls whose submission deadlines occur after 7 February 2025 must be made openly available in journals, platforms or repositories, at no cost and with no content restrictions for users, and without embargo periods. Open access also requires that the content of publications can be reused, provided that authors are properly credited.
The workshop structure will be as follows:
- Brief introduction to Open Science
- Brief introduction to the FCT Policy on Open Access to Scientific Publications
- Scientific articles
- Gold, Green and Transformative routes
- Rights retention
- Licences
- Books, book chapters and monographs
- Theses
- RIA Repository
The segment dedicated to the RIA Repository – the Institutional Repository of the University of Aveiro will be delivered in a hands-on format. The workshop will take place in person only and in Portuguese.
Registration must be completed through this form by 3 December.
