The consortium European Multidisciplinary Seafloor and water column Observatory (EMSO-ERIC) has opened its annual Infrastructure call offering access to EMSO facilities. A maximum amount of €15,000 per project will be funded. You can apply every two months during 2025.

EMSO-ERIC is a consortium-based common strategic framework of scientific facilities which aims to further understanding of the oceans. Six facilities are available under the 2025 call: OBSEA (Expandable Seafloor Observatory); Southern Adriatic; Western Mediterranean Sea; Western Ionian Sea; SmartBay; Iberian Margin. There is no restriction regarding the country of origin of the user; international and multilateral collaboration is encouraged.

Funding

Funding consists of Facility Access Units (days of usage) and economic support (direct funding) for operations, hardware, shipping equipment, and consumables.

The maximum amount of direct funding per project proposal is €15,000 of which a maximum of €4,000 may be used for travel of members of the user team or host facility personnel. The 2025 call is expected to fund a minimum of six projects.
