Deadlines: 15 May 2026 (pre-proposal) | 29 May 2026 (full proposal)
The project ReMade@ARI (REcyclable MAterials DEvelopment at Analytical Research Infrastructures), funded by the EU Commission’s, provides scientists who are working on the design of new recyclable materials with analytical tools the exploration of the properties and the structure of their material in smallest details up to atomic resolution. ReMade@ARI commits to leverage the development of innovative, sustainable materials for key components in the most diverse sectors, such as electronics, batteries, vehicles, construction, packaging, plastics, textiles and food.
Available services and calls
ReMade@ARI supports and coordinates your free access to a choice of over 50 European research infrastructures. The project provides free scientific support and training, no matter the level of expertise or experience together with financial support for travel and accommodation when visiting the facilities.
If you have a research project, but you are not sure how to go about completing a full proposal, you can submit an informal pre-proposal to get scientific advice from the project’s Smart Science Cluster and Expert Network on how to proceed. You can also submit a pre-proposal if you are unsure which technique or facility to select in the portal.
A pre-proposal is not a pre-requisite to submitting a full proposal but the project do highly recommend that you submit a pre-proposal, even if you feel your full proposal is already well developed. Although this process does not guarantee approval of your application, proposals submitted using this option have a very high success rate.
You can request support for:
- in person (physical) access: users visiting the facilities in person and receiving the service “hands-on”.
- remote access: e.g. “hands-off” access to the facility, analysis of mail-in samples, remote access to a high-performance computing facility, with resources and services offered without users physically visiting the facility/installation.
Eligibility
You are only eligible to access a research infrastructure if the PI and the majority (over 50%) of the team work in a country other than the country where you are applying.
It is strongly recommended that you apply for at least 2 techniques in your proposal. One technique is accepted but it may not be prioritised, depending on how many applications are received.
Funding
Access to the facilities is completely free of charge and includes the logistical, technological and scientific support and specific training that is needed to use the services provided by the facility. Moreover, a contribution is given for travel and subsistence expenditures for users.
A maximum of two researchers per experiment/visit are entitled to reimbursement. The total per person visit depends on the number of experiment days and is based on a calculated reimbursement of:
- up to 300 EUR per user for travel costs
- up to 50 EUR per night/per user for accommodation.
Duration
Access should begin within 6 months of acceptance, depending on the type of access required. Depending on the technique chosen, facilities may offer agile access in a shorter time. Access should be completed in a maximum of 12 months from its start. All access must be completed by 18 December 2026.
How to apply
Pre-proposals must be submitted here. Once you have submitted your pre-proposal, you will be contacted within 2-3 working days via email by a postdoc from the Smart Science Cluster who will provide you with help and guidance on your research project.
Full proposals are submitted here.
