Access to infrastructures on innovative solutions to improve energy systems or reduce the life cycle cost of energy technologies

26/04/2026

Deadline: 26 April 2026

The Research Infrastructure Services for Renewable Energy (RISEnergy) has opened its fourth Transnational Access (TA) Call, offering researchers (including PhD students) from both academia and industry the opportunity to access cutting-edge research infrastructures across Europe. This call focuses on innovative solutions to improve energy systems and/or reduce the life cycle cost of energy technologies, enabling a wider use of renewable energy.  Access will be granted free of charge to selected projects.

Proposals can address a broad range of fields, including biofuels, solar energy, storage, hydrogen, ICT, integrated grids, advanced materials, ocean energy, offshore wind, and photovoltaics. Cross-cutting projects are also welcome. Please note that not all infrastructures are open under this call; the full list is available here.

Eligibility

Researchers can only apply for access to facilities that are located in countries different from the one they are working.

Funding

For successful applications, provisions for covering travel and subsistence expenses are available. RISEnergy will reimburse the costs of up to two researchers per proposal. If a larger number of researchers is required to achieve the objectives of the TA project, this must be justified in the application form.

RISEnergy covers travelling and accomodaion costs, per diem rates (the additional costs incurred by the users compared to the usual expenses at home). RISEnergy does not cover Visa and insurance costs.

Duration

Transnational Access typically lasts for up to three months. If needed and duly justified, projects can be split in several short stays lasting max. 3 months in total.

How to apply

The planned visit and duration of stay may be discussed between the visiting researcher(s) and the Access Provider before submitting the application. To contact them, please visit Research Infrastructures Platform.

Proposals must be submitted via the official RISEnergy form.
