The Allianz Climate Risk Research Award supports scientific research that improves our understanding of climate change-related risks, particularly the nexus between climate change and extreme weather events. The award aims to foster resilience by applying technological solutions and recognizing early-career researchers whose work advances climate risk research. Open to current PhD students and to postdoctoral researchers who have received their PhD within the past two years.

- Global Award: Understanding and mitigating the risk of extreme weather events intensified by climate change, and fostering resilience through technological solutions;
- Thematic Spotlight: Allianz Trade: Climate impacts on global trade, trade credit, and supply chains;
- Regional Spotlight: Asia: Climate risk research with direct applicability to Asian countries and economies.
Eligibility
Open to PhD candidates, post-doctoral researchers (defense of final research no more than two years before application).
Funding
- Global Award: €7,000 (winner) | €3,000 (finalists);
- Thematic Spotlight: Allianz Trade: €7,000 (winner);
- Regional Spotlight: Asia: €7,000 (winner).
How to apply
Applications must be submitted by email to climaterisk-award@allianz.com. They must include:
- A non-technical essay (max. 800 words) outlining the research idea and central findings;
- A letter of recommendation from the candidate’s academic mentor;
- A filled and signed declaration form;
- A completed application form;
- A CV.
