Antarctic Science International Bursary

21/03/2025

Deadline: 21 March 2025

Antarctic Science Ltd offers annual Antarctic Science International (ASI) Bursaries to develop the careers of promising early career scientists (including PhD students), working in any field of Antarctic science, and based in any country. Grants are awarded to extend the scope of an existing research project. Awards of up to £6,000 can be made with projects that can run for up to two years.

The grant is intended to support distinct extension activities, usually arising from previous work. ASI wishes to fund novel opportunities or research avenues that are complementary to the applicant’s existing research, namely through:

  • Extra field or laboratory work;
  • International collaboration or the learning of new skills;
  • Purchasing/contributing towards the cost of a key piece of equipment.

To be eligible applicants must be studying for a PhD or be employed as an early career researcher (eight years after their PhD or within three years of attaining a permanent faculty position, up to a total of eight years post PhD). Grants are given to individuals and managed through their organisations.

Two webinars will take place on 14 February 2025 (15:00 and 20:00 GMT) to help potential applicants apply for the bursary. Advance registration is required to attend. Click here to register.
