Call to Participate in IODP3 Expedition GLACE-NS: Late Cenozoic Glaciers, Landscapes, Climates, and Ecosystems of the North Sea

01/12/2025

Deadline: 1 December 2025

International Ocean Drilling Programme (IODP3) Expedition GLACE-NS aims to investigate the North Sea Basin late Plio-Pleistocene succession and the environmental-ecological information it contains. This will help elucidate how glaciers, landscapes, climates, and shallow marine and coastal ecosystems evolved through a period of high-amplitude climate variability.

Opportunities exist for researchers in all specialties. However, while other expertise may be considered, specialists in the following fields are required: downhole logging, geophysics, inorganic geochemistry, microbiology, organic geochemistry, paleomagnetism, paleontology, palynology, physical properties, paleogenomics and provenance, sedimentology, stratigraphic correlation, and structural geology.

The Expedition Outline can be found here.

A webinar was held on October 2025 to enable the community to find out more about Expedition GLACE-NS. A recording of this webinar can be found here.
