CESAM is a full member of the international network EuroMarine. One of the major advantages is being eligible for the funding schemes boosted by this network – You will only compete with other members of the network (~205 in total)! The second round to apply for the individual fellowships is now open. These fellowships enable Early Career Researchers (including PhD students) to attend a professional development activity of their choice.  24 proposals, each 500€, are expected to be funded this year.

Eligibility

• Candidates:
  • PhD students;
  • Post-doctoral researchers within 5 years of their PhD award;
  • Research technicians within 7 years of their last degree (excluding parental, illness, or extensive non-holiday leave);
• Each applicant may submit up to two applications, but only one will be funded;
• A maximum of four individuals per organisation can be awarded in this call;
• Applicants who have received a Young Scientist Fellowship twice in consecutive years are not eligible for 2026.

Funding

Up to €500 per fellowship will be funded to cover participation fees, travel, and subsistence expenses. If total costs exceed €500, the applicant must cover the additional costs from other sources.

Duration

Activities must be completed between 1 July 2026 and 1 June 2027.

How to apply

Applications must include:

• An application letter (max. 1.5 A4 pages) justifying:
  • How the activity supports the applicant’s marine research career;
  • How participation aligns with EuroMarine/OYSTER objectives;
  • How the applicant will acknowledge and disseminate EuroMarine/OYSTER’s support;
  • How knowledge will be shared with colleagues at the applicant’s institution;
  • A proof of acceptance for the course, workshop, or conference;
  • A signed declaration form (approved and countersigned by the applicant’s supervisor/manager or CESAM representative);
• A short CV.
