The Department of Life Sciences (DCV) of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC) annually awards the UCLife Sciences – Anthropology, UC-Life Sciences – Biology and UC-Life Sciences – Biochemistry prizes. PhD students can apply and receive a laptop computer up to a maximum value of 850 €.

The prizes in the three categories are awarded to a Master’s or PhD student, who may be external to the University of Coimbra, who is the author of the best article (based on originality, topicality, impact, scientific quality and contribution to knowledge in the discipline) published in an international journal indexed in the ISI or Scopus database in the previous calendar year, in the respective area of the Prize.

The student must be the first author of the publication in the competition and must be enrolled in a Master’s or PhD programme in Portugal in the year the article is published. 

Applications must be submitted by email to the Director of the DCV (director.dcv@uc.pt) and to the DCV Secretariat (secretaria.dcv@uc.pt), with the subject line of the message UC-Life Sciences Prize – Anthropology, UC-Life Sciences Prize – Biochemistry or UC-Life Sciences Prize – Biology, depending on the prize you are applying for.
