On July 14, 2025, the Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM) celebrated its Annual Day, bringing together its members for a moment of sharing, conviviality, and reinforcement of institutional ties.
The programme began with a welcome coffee, providing an informal setting for participants to exchange ideas. This was followed by the formal session, attended by Professor Amadeu Soares, Director of CESAM, Professor Artur Silva, Vice-Rector of the University of Aveiro, and Dr. Salvador Malheiro, Secretary of State for Fisheries and the Sea.
The session was opened by the Director of CESAM and closed by Professor Artur Silva, in his capacity as Vice-Rector for Research. In his address, the Secretary of State for Fisheries and the Sea, Dr. Salvador Malheiro, highlighted that CESAM and the University of Aveiro were the first research and higher education institutions he visited in his official capacity. He also emphasised CESAM’s excellence and relevance in both the national and international scientific landscape, particularly its contribution to the development of public policies, which are essential for informed and effective governance.
The celebrations concluded with a convivial lunch at Casa de São Sebastião, in Aveiro, fostering a moment of closeness among CESAM members and reinforcing the spirit of collaboration and commitment to the centre’s mission.
