CESAM in Ambiente Magazine

The Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM) at the University of Aveiro has once again been in Ambiente Magazine, a leading national publication in the field of sustainability.

The article in issue no. 113 highlights CESAM’s contribution in areas such as the circular economy and energy transition, showcasing projects that transform agricultural, forestry, and urban waste into sustainable biofuels, in close collaboration with industry. The magazine also draws attention to CESAM’s research on invisible pollution and other emerging environmental challenges – from microplastics and pesticides to noise and artificial light – with findings that have already informed European directives on soils and chemical risks.

In addition to its scientific output, the feature emphasises CESAM’s role in bridging science and society, notably through its impact on public policy documents and its active participation in national and international forums.

On pages 42 to 45 of the magazine (see here), CESAM’s work in biodiversity conservation is also showcased, featuring projects aimed at restoring marine and coastal ecosystems, as well as promoting sustainable solutions at the interface between environment and energy.

CESAM’s presence in Ambiente Magazine further reinforces its standing as a centre of research excellence, deeply engaged with global environmental challenges and committed to mobilising scientific knowledge for sustainable solutions.

The feature also extends to the back cover (see here), where CESAM is presented as an international, multi- and transdisciplinary research unit, operating across the atmosphere–land–ocean continuum and actively committed to “Caring for the Future” through the One Health concept.
