CESAM scientists among the most influential in the world

The Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM) of the University of Aveiro stands out in 2024 as one of the major hubs of scientific excellence worldwide.
The latest Stanford World’s Top 2% Scientists ranking, based on citation metrics from the Scopus (Elsevier) database, highlights a record number of CESAM researchers: 15 in the career-long Top 2% and 26 in the Top 2% for 2024.

International recognition

The study, coordinated by John Ioannidis (Stanford University, USA), evaluates 22 scientific fields and 174 subfields, considering robust indicators such as the h-index, h-m index adjusted for co-authorship, and citations weighted by authorship position, ensuring an independent and global assessment of scientific relevance.
