On 25 September, the University of Aveiro Rectorate will host the final event of the European WIN-BIG project, dedicated to gender equality in the Blue Economy. Participation is open to all interested participants, subject to registration.
Coordinated by Helena Vieira, researcher at CESAM/DAO, WIN-BIG is concluding three years of research, collaboration and action across the different European sea basins. The event will be an opportunity to discover the project’s main results, explore the resources and tools developed, and reflect on the next steps towards a more inclusive and gender-equal Blue Economy.
Throughout the day, project partners, researchers, policymakers and Blue Economy professionals will share experiences, results and perspectives. The programme will also include a round table on the future of gender equality in the European Union and the Blue Economy, exploring how the impact of WIN-BIG can continue beyond the end of the project.
One of the highlights of the programme will be the opening of the Women Ocean Champions exhibition, which gives visibility to women who are transforming the European Blue Economy through their work, knowledge and experience.
The event will also feature the presentation of the Women Ocean Champions book, bringing together the stories of 100 women working across the European Blue Economy and showcasing the diversity of their careers, expertise and contributions to the sector.
The closing session will feature the Portuguese premiere of the European episode of the documentary Women from the Sea – Significant Gestures, produced by Help Images and directed by Raquel Clemente Martins.
Join us and be part of the conversation on the future of gender equality in the Blue Economy.
