With the institutional sponsorship of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Docapesca launched the 3rd edition of the Expo Fish Portugal Innovation Award, which aims to reward the best projects and ideas within the scope of innovation and research linked to the sea food sector.

Expo Fish Portugal, organized by Docapesca, is the largest space to promote Portuguese fishing and activities linked to the sea and its main objective is to contribute to the internationalization and promotion of activities linked to the fishing sector and the commercialization of fishing.

The Expo Fish Portugal Innovation Award aims to identify and support projects/companies that seek to reinforce innovation in the area of food originating from the sea, in changing processes and transferring knowledge in the area of sustainable fishing, in the creation of innovative processes, new equipment and digital solutions and the development of biodegradable fishing gear. All individuals, students, teachers or researchers in higher education or legal entities, start-ups or research centers can apply for the prize.

The Application Phase runs until October 31, 2024 at www.expofishportugal.com, with the three best projects being awarded prizes. The 3rd place winner will receive a prize of €3,000, the 2nd place winner will receive a prize of €4,000 and the winner will receive a prize of €5,000. The selected projects will be presented during Expo Fish Portugal 2023, which will take place on the 14th and 15th of November and where the winners will be announced.
