Writing Contest: Celebrating Women in Science

31/05/2025

Deadline: 31 May 2025

FEBS Letters celebrates Women in Science Week 2025 with a writing contest. Researchers at any career stage and of any gender are invited to write about their female role models, including prominent scientists, mentors, and other women who have inspired them in their academic careers. The author of the winning submission will receive a prize of 500 € and will be published in the Scientists’ Forum.

Candidates are welcome to reflect on the challenges of gender bias in academia and the importance of female role models for all scientists. You may consult FEBS Letters Women in Science Collection for inspiration. FEBS Letters is particularly interested in learning about the remarkable women who, directly or indirectly, have helped shape your journeys in science.

Contest guidelines

  • Submissions will be judged on interest, style, coherence, and attention to the contest theme.
  • Submissions should fall between 1000 and 3000 words, and a single author should write them.
  • Evaluators will not consider submissions written in whole or part with generative AI.
