The second Sustainability_UA Meeting will take place on May 15th, at the Carlos Borrego Auditorium, in the Department of Environment and Planning (DAO) of the University of Aveiro (UA). The event will feature the participation of Antje Disterheft from the Research Centre for Environment and Sustainability (CENSE) of Nova University Lisbon, who is the invited speaker for this edition.
The Sustainability_UA Meeting is aimed at the entire UA community and aims to contribute to the discussion and promotion of environmental, economic, and social sustainability culture within the institution.
The opening session will be chaired by the Rector of UA, Paulo Jorge Ferreira, followed by the plenary session with the intervention of the invited speaker for this edition, Antje Disterheft (CENSE/NOVA FCT – Nova University Lisbon), on the topic “A caring university: new perspectives for a sustainable university?”
This will be followed by a session of presentations and discussions on the following topics:
- LIFE SeaGrassRIAwild – mariculture for the recolonization of the Ria de Aveiro with subtidal seagrasses;
- Organization of sustainable events;
- Eco-Schools Green Flag at the Department of Medical Sciences;
- Eco-Schools Green Flag at the Department of Environment and Planning;
- Sustainability from the perspective of AAUAv, Aveiro is Ours.
The afternoon will be dedicated to Sustainability Practices (PS) at UA, with the presentation of two examples, namely “The sustainability of HEIs in Europe: ECIU and European alliances”; and “Mapping of SDGs in the training offer”.
The event will conclude with a summary by Ulisses Azeiteiro, researcher at CESAM/DBIO, followed by a session of conclusions and final debate in a roundtable format, moderated by Ana Lillebø, Vice-Rector for environmental sustainability of campuses and researcher at CESAM/DBIO.
