
The EU4Ocean Summer School on Ocean Literacy and Collaboration is a 5-day event (from July 10 to 14, 2023) in the city of Matosinhos, Portugal, dedicated to reflecting on how to better collaborate on ocean-related projects and apply that knowledge to advance a sustainable blue economy in coastal cities.
The Summer School focuses on the following learning objectives:
- Familiarization with the objectives and actions of the EU4Ocean Coalition and the Youth4Ocean Forum.
- Extending efforts within the framework of the United Nations’ Ocean Decade.
- Effective collaboration in the development of ocean-related projects.
- Diversification of collaboration and optimization of communication in transdisciplinary and multicultural environments.
- Collaboration in the sustainable blue economy.
- Local issues regarding institutional engagement.
The in-person program will host various international guests and speakers to discuss the following topics: empathy development, impact measurement, the ocean and climate: the role of coastal cities, ocean food, and scientific communication. All activities will be conducted in English.
