The ERC-PT Careers programme aims to attract and retain international researchers for permanent positions in research and higher education institutions in Portugal.

This programme is funded under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and aims to encourage national institutions to recruit researchers with projects funded by the European Research Council (ERC) that are underway or have been completed in less than 24 months.

ERC-PT Careers will act as an instrument to support national institutions that, cumulatively:

• Recruit, for an indefinite period, researchers with a national or foreign affiliation who are responsible for ongoing or recently completed ERC projects;
• In the case of ongoing projects, and at the time of submission of the expression of interest, are host institutions for these projects.

The amount of funding will be allocated to the institutions according to the period between the start of the ERC-funded project and the hiring of a permanent position. The incentive to hire for a permanent position will be for the categories of principal investigator or coordinating investigator, or their equivalents in the teaching career.

The period for submitting applications is open permanently until 31 December 2025 or until the programme’s maximum allocation (~11,8 M€) is reached, whichever comes first. Further information can be found here.
