Open Call for a Young Scientists Summer Programme from IIASA

12/01/2024

The International Institute for Applied System Analysis (IIASA, Austria) offers a summer programme for PhD students to undertake a scientific project on a topic related to the IIASA research agenda. Applications are open until 12 January 2024.

The programme is designed for advanced PhD students (ideally about two years prior to receiving their PhD degree) working on a topic compatible with ongoing IIASA research, exploring policy implications of their work. Participants will be working under the direct mentorship of an experienced IIASA scientist in a unique interdisciplinary and international research environment. They will produce a paper (serving as a first step towards a publishable journal article) and get the opportunity to foster contacts for future collaboration within the institute’s worldwide network.

Applicants can choose to work with up to two research programmes (Advancing Systems Analysis; Biodiversity and Natural Resources; Economic Frontiers; Energy, Climate and Environment; Population and Just Societies; Strategic Initiatives). Participation in the programme is only possible for one summer (however, you may apply several times) and you will need to be present at the institute (i.e. no fieldwork or working remotely) for the full duration of it. Note that Portuguese applicants have to be funded through own sources.
