ProBioMar aims to contribute for the protection and restoration of aquatic biodiversity and aquatic ecosystems within the framework of sustainable fishing activities, contributing to the effective management and conservation of marine biological resources, taking Ria de Aveiro as a case of study. Combining ecology-based knowledge and modelling expertise, ProBioMar emerges in the sense of improving knowledge about functional traits of target species with impact on ecosystem functions and services. The knowledge acquired will contribute for the implementation of more efficient management and conservation measures to guaranty the preservation of native species with commercial importance and to preserve seagrass meadows and the associated biodiversity. ProBioMar will be carried out in coordination with BioPradaRia, SmartBioR and ISIT-U projects.
