A 3ª edição do Research Summit foi um importante fórum de discussão sobre o tema ‘Mar e Sustentabilidade’, onde participaram globalmente mais de 800 pessoas durante os três dias do evento. Mesmo online, este evento conseguiu manter a comunidade de investigação unida! O Reitor, Paulo Jorge Ferreira, e o Vice-reitor para a Investigação, Inovação e 3º Ciclo, Artur Silva, abriram o evento no dia 24 de junho de 2020 e foram seguidos pela intervenção do Ministro de Mar, Ricardo Serrão Santos, com uma perspetiva interessante sobre o esforço de Portugal para ajudar a comunidade de investigação na área dos assuntos marítimos. O Comandante Maurício Camilo do NRP Sagres permitiu que a audiência descobrisse mais sobre Sagres, com a sua apresentação inititulada “NRP SAGRES, 58 years showing the Portuguese Flag around the World”. Com o apoio do American Corner da UA e da Embaixada dos EUA, William Gerwick, da Universidade da Califórnia, San Diego, deu à audiência uma visão aprofundada da investigação que faz no seu laboratório. De grande interesse para a Comunidade UA foi a participação de Annapaola Migani, da Elsevier, cuja apresentação se debruçou sobre um exemplo de aplicação do recentemente adquirido “SciVal”. Um dos grandes objectivos do Research Summit é acolher o inter e transdisciplinar trabalho junto dos investigadores da UA, o qual foi materializado com 16 apresentações das Unidades de Investigação, tendo ficado a do CESAM a cargo do Professor Doutor Luis Menezes Pinheiro, que incidiu sobre as contribuições do CESAM para o desenvolvimento sustentável dos oceanos. O dia 2 e 3 do evento teve bastante afluência, com mais de 800 participantes, de 48 programas doutorais, 641 estudantes de doutoramento e 160 professores envolvidos em jurado.
Dois estudantes de doutoramento do CESAM consagraram-se vencedores desta edição do Research Summit 2020: Marco Custódio e Catarina Malheiro.
De destacar também a participação de Daniel Jerónimo e Sílvia Coelho, ambos estudantes de doutoramento do CESAM.
