The National Institute of Health Dr. Ricardo Jorge (INSA), through its Department of Food and Nutrition, in collaboration with the Center for Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM) and the Faculty of Animal Science and Food Engineering at the University of São Paulo, is organizing the 5th edition of the International Conference on Food Contaminants (ICFC 2023): Challenges on exposure assessment, health impacts, and sustainability of food systems, which will take place from September 4th to 6th.
Similar to previous editions, ICFC 2023 is dedicated to addressing future challenges in the field of food safety and human health, particularly related to exposure to chemical contaminants, their impact on human health, and the sustainability of food systems as a means to ensure safer consumption. This will be the first edition of the event to take place outside of Portugal, aiming to provide a broader perspective on the topic and fostering engagement beyond Europe, including Brazil and neighboring countries.
ICFC is a multidisciplinary event that welcomes researchers from around the world, regardless of their experience and reputation, to share ideas and knowledge about human health and food contaminants. More detailed information about this year’s edition, including submission deadlines for abstracts, will be announced soon.
The primary route of exposure to chemical contaminants is through food consumption, prompting the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) to require risk analysis for the food chain. Risk assessment aims to study the adverse effects on health resulting from human exposure to hazards originating from food.
Registration and abstract submission are now open.
Deadline for abstract submission: July 3, 2023 In-person registration: until August 15, 2023 Online registration: until September 1, 2023
