10:00 - 13:00

On June 12, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the first Workshop of the InundaRia project will take place at the Montebelo Vista Alegre Ílhavo Hotel – Sala Casa do Boco. The InundaRia project, “Flood Risk Assessment Aiming to Improve Territorial Resilience in the Ria de Aveiro Region,” was recently approved by the Technical Assistance Programme 2030 (PAT2030) and aims to predict and understand the dynamics of flooding in the Ria de Aveiro. The main objective of this project is to gather and disseminate technical-scientific knowledge in the fields of hydrodynamic modelling and flood risk assessment in the Ria de Aveiro, providing users and policymakers with reliable forecasts essential for preparing the territory for extreme events, making it more resilient to future threats. This project, coordinated by João Miguel Dias, researcher and director of the Physics Department (CESAM/FIS), involves researchers from the Physics Department of the University of Aveiro and has as partner entities the Intermunicipal Community of the Region of Aveiro (CIRA), the Port of Aveiro (APA), and the Regional Coordination and Development Commission of the Centre (CCDR-Centre).

In a participatory environment, this event aims to present the InundaRia project to the community and bring together the scientific team with stakeholders for a debate on the theme of flooding in the Ria de Aveiro region, with a view to identifying public policies and mapping the needs of the Ria de Aveiro region to be explored during the project’s execution.
