19/09/2023

On September 19th, the Tagus Estuary Biodiversity Forum will take place as part of the celebrations for the 47th anniversary of the Tagus Estuary Natural Reserve (RNET). The event is a joint initiative of the ICNF (Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests) and the Municipality of Alcochete, with the aim of commemorating this significant occasion.

The Tagus Estuary Biodiversity Forum aims to serve as a platform for building and strengthening partnerships to realize shared visions for the Tagus Estuary and this Protected Area, while preserving its natural resources and values.

With the support of CESAM – Center for Environmental and Marine Studies at the University of Aveiro, and the Center for Marine and Environmental Sciences at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, the gathering aims to bring together researchers and other relevant stakeholders dedicated to the study and management of biodiversity in the Tagus estuary. Through this forum, the aim is also to construct a future vision for the region based on the ecosystem services it provides.

The event is expected to be a valuable opportunity for knowledge sharing, important discussions on the biodiversity of the Tagus estuary, and the identification of strategies for its conservation and sustainable management.
