UK-Portugal Scientific Dialogue: Addressing Global Challenges through Collaboration

On December 12, from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, the city of Lisbon will host a crucial scientific dialogue between Portugal and the United Kingdom with the event “UK-Portugal Scientific Dialogue: Addressing Global Challenges through Collaboration” at the Pavilion of Knowledge – Centro Ciência Viva.

The main purpose of this event is to analyze the recent evolution of scientific collaborations between the two countries and seek to understand how the joint efforts can more effectively address the societal challenges and opportunities they both face, in addition to enhancing future investment opportunities.

Highlighting the participation of Ana Hilário, a researcher at CESAM/DBio, and Kerry Howell from the University of Plymouth, who will present the Challenger 150 program (www.challenger150.world) that they co-coordinate as part of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development as an example of collaboration in Marine Research.

This event will feature the presence of important representatives in this dialogue framework, such as Rosalia Vargas, President of Ciência Viva, Chris Santy, British Ambassador to Portugal, Madalena Alves, President of the Foundation for Science and Technology, Paulo Jorge Ferreira, President of the Council of Rectors of Portuguese Universities (TBC), Adam Jackson, Director of Research and International Innovation at the British Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development (TBC), Elvira Fortunato, Minister of Science, Technology, and Higher Education, among others.

It is expected that this dialogue will strengthen existing ties and inspire new forms of cooperation to address global challenges.
