Applications are now open for the 20th edition of the “L’Oréal Portugal Medals of Honour for Women in Science”. The competition, promoted by FCT, L’Oréal Portugal and the UNESCO National Commission, has been running since 2004 and has already honoured 65 young female researchers in Portugal.
The initiative aims to support advanced scientific research studies, at post-doctoral level, carried out in an institution of the national science and technology system, in the field of Science, Engineering and Technology for Health or the Environment.
Four medals of honour will be awarded, worth 15,000 euros each. All female doctors who have obtained their doctoral degree less than 5 years before the date of the call for applications and who will not be over 35 years old by the end of the current year are eligible to apply.
For the purposes of the call, the above limits are extended depending on the number of children of the applicants (1 year for each child), provided that the (digitised) identification documents of the respective children are included in the application.
The work proposals submitted to the call must focus on the research work to be carried out by the candidate (although it may be part of a wider research project), with a planned duration of between 12 and 24 months, and with a planned start date of between 1 September 2023 and 31 January 2024.
