The Ministry of Education & Science of Ukraine intends to promote the involvement of international experts in the evaluation of the Ukrainian research system. This will be the way to ensure that evaluation practices are conducted according to the highest international standards, thus ensuring transparency and promoting the advancement of Ukraine’s research ecosystem and its credibility on the global stage.

One of the critical needs of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine  (NRFU) at present, apart from money, is to expand the number of international experts available to review NRFU proposals. The role of international reviewers is extremely beneficial to such a young democracy like Ukraine. Becoming an international reviewer for NRFU is an easy way for members of the global scientific community to help Ukraine at this critical time by simply doing what they already do well – evaluating proposals. By volunteering as an NRFU foreign expert, you can be sure that you are contributing to the future of research and development in Ukraine by helping to select and support the best researchers, not only through grant support but also by bringing them closer to the global scientific community and its standards.

NRFU was established in 2018 and over the three years since 2020, it has offered 216 competitive grants to Ukrainian researchers, totalling almost 29 M€.
