Mobility grants for young researchers in the area of forest by-products

30/06/2024

The COST Action (CA) EU-PoTaRCh – Network for forest by-products charcoal, resin, tar, potash is funding Short Term Scientific Missions (STSM) for researchers engaged in an official research programme as a PhD student or postdoctoral fellow. STSMs must have a minimum duration of 5 calendar days including travel and a maximum of 1 500€ per mission will be funded.

Deadline: 30 June 2024

STSMs are institutional visits aimed at supporting individual mobility, fostering collaboration between individuals. The STSM applicant must be engaged in an official research programme as a PhD Student or postdoctoral fellow, or must be affiliated to an institution, organization or legal entity which has within its remit a clear association with performing research.

The STSM Mobility does not necessarily cover all expenses related to performing a given mission. The grant is a contribution to the overall travel, accommodation, and meal expenses of the grantee.

Applications will be evaluated in order of arrival and the deadline may change if the budget ends before so it is better for you to rush out.

The CA EU-PoTaRCh establishes a network for the past, present and future of use of major non-timber forest raw materials and products in Europe. Whilst it will focus on forest by-products mainly Potash, Tar, Resin, and Charcoal (PoTaRCh) – as representatives of traditional forest exploitation heritage, it touches upon other forest by-products (tannins, pitches). The goal is to identify and assess production changes and their social and environmental impacts on sustainable development, and based on their heritage, to draw lessons for the future.
