Air pollution is a major health concern. To tackle this issue, the European Union has set a goal of zero pollution for air by 2050. To this end, a clean air policy combined with different measures has been implemented, namely the increasing use of trees in cities, low-emission vehicles, and renewable energy sources. The growing interest in air quality has led to the recognition of annoying odors as atmospheric pollutants, however there is a lack of guidelines at the European level on this topic, and a reference system to objectively describe and characterize an odor. This project aims to achieve a comprehensive overview of the regulations set up in every European country concerning atmospheric pollution (e.g. type of regulated pollutants and levels), with a special focus on odor and associated management policies, as well as gathering data on the impact of the different measures on air quality at the European level.
