The GREENCORK Project aims to enable Amorim Cork to be the first company to launch on the market a range of agglomerated cork stoppers with organic adhesives and surface treatments, produced by greener and more sustainable processes. This product will be extremely innovative as it will enable the development of a technical cork stopper with more than 95 per cent natural biomass, a product that does not currently exist on the market. This stopper will consist mainly of cork granules (> 80 %) with increased sensory neutrality, the result of decontamination through extraction with highly effective supercritical fluids and with energy consumption at least 50 % lower than similar technologies available on the market. However, this project also aims, for the first time, to design Bio stoppers with technical characteristics that provide the most appropriate oenological performance and meet the expectations of the wine producer. This project is part of the promoter’s endeavour to strengthen its commitment to Research & Development in the area of innovation, with the aim of continually improving the performance of its products and, consequently, satisfying the needs of the market.
