With the publication of Regulatory Decree no. 1/2020 of 16 March, Portugal classified the 62 sites of community importance in mainland Portugal as special areas of conservation, as designated by the competent bodies of the European Union. This law stipulates that complementary measures and actions for the conservation of habitats and species present in each site are defined in management plans. ICNF is currently drawing up the management plans for some areas, which identify the conservation objectives for each of the natural values and develop the specific measures to achieve them, the ways of making them operational and the programme for monitoring their implementation.
A multidisciplinary external technical team worked closely with the ICNF to draw up these management plans.
The proposals for the management plans and the respective reports, including annexes, and the participation form are available here (only available in Portuguese).
Until the end of the public consultation period, all interested parties, individually or on behalf of an entity or legal person, can submit comments and suggestions to the management plan proposal by filling in a participation form, sent directly to the Participa portal (https://participa.pt/), by email to ZEC.Centro@icnf.pt or ZEC.LVT@icnf.pt (in the case of the Berlenga Archipelago SPA), or by post addressed to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ICNF, I. P., at the address of the head office.
As part of this public consultation process, all comments and suggestions regarding the proposed management plan will be considered.
